User Administration

Status: A user can either be Active or Inactive. By being active, the user can log in and perform the duties that they are allowed to do based upon their roll. An inactive user can not login and therefore cannot perform their duties.

User Name: This is the name that identifies the user throughout the system. It is a unique name, therefore only one instance of each user name may exist in the system. This is also the name which must be provided by the user to login to the system. Must be at least 6 characters in length.

First Name: The first name of the user. This is a required field.

Last Name: The last name of the user. This is a required field.

Email Address: The email address of the user. This is a required field.

Roll: The role that the user assumes when they are logged into the system. The user can either be a Contributor, Primary Contributor, or Administrator. Click here to learn more about rolls.

 

 

New User:

To create a new user, click the New User tab under the User Administration folder. You will be asked to enter in the user name. The user name must be unique, and it must be at least 6 characters in length.

 

After you enter in the user name, you will be taken to this screen where you can enter in the user's information.

 

 

User Name: This is the user name that was entered in on the previous screen. This cannot be edited at all once it has been created. If you do not wish to user this user name, then click the  button to cancel out this screen. By doing so, the user will not be created.

First Name: The first name of the user. This is a required field.

Last Name: The last name of the user. This is a required field.

Email Address: The email address of the user. This is a required field.

System Roll: The role that the user assumes when they are logged into the system. The user can either be a Contributor, Primary Contributor, or Administrator. Click here to learn more about rolls.

Approver: The person who is authorized to approve content  for this user. The approver must either be a system administrator or primary content contributor. This field is not necessary if the user is created as a primary contributor or Administrator.

New Password: This field is mandatory. A password must be defined in this field for the user's account to be created. 

Confirmation: The password that was created above must be re-entered here. This is done for verification purposes to ensure that the password was not mistyped originally. The password and Confirmation fields must be identical for the user account to be created successfully.

Member: This list will contain all the group names that the user is currently a member of. To add the user to a group, click the group that the user needs to be a part of from the not member list and click the  button. The group will show up in this list now and the user will become a member of this group upon creation. To deselect or delete the user from a group, select the group and click the  button. The user will no longer be a member of that group and the group will no longer appear in this list.

Not Member: This list contains all groups that the user is not currently a member of. If the user is a member of the group, then the group will not appear in this list. To make the user a member of a group, select the group from this list and click the  button. The group will no longer be shown in this list, but will appear in the member list. To delete the user from a group, select the group from the member list and click the  button. The group will no longer show up in the member list, but will appear in the not member list once again. 

 

Once all selections have been made pertaining to the properties of the user as detailed above, click the  button to make the user and apply the settings that were made. If you do not wish to make a uset at this time, click the  button to exit out of the create user screen.
